"The plug-in hybrid concept is gaining a lot of traction, not just with green environmentalists. What it does is bring the electrical infrastructure back into the transportation equation much like electric cars did 10 or 15 years ago, but at that point the technology just wasn't sustainable.

Hyrid technology being used not to make cars more efficient but to make them faster.

Efficiency enables you to increase performance or fuel economy.
